Jashayla Pettigrew joined KOIN 6 News as a Digital Reporter in August 2022 after graduating from the University of Missouri in May 2022.
At the University of Missouri, she double-majored in Women’s and Gender Studies and journalism with an emphasis in arts and culture writing.
In the fall of 2020, Jashayla wrote for the Columbia Missourian as a reporter on the education beat. During spring 2021, she was a contributing writer for Vox Magazine’s culture section. That summer, she was an editorial intern for Black Beauty & Hair magazine, based in London, England. In spring 2022, she returned to Vox Magazine as a culture editor.
Jashayla is from St. Louis, Missouri. Her hobbies consist of yoga, online shopping, bingeing reality TV and trying new restaurants.
