Danny Peterson joined KOIN 6’s digital news team as an enterprise reporter in September 2019. He is a lifelong Pacific Northwest resident who was drawn to Oregon for its opportunities in education, journalism, the arts and its familiar lush forest landscapes. Originally from Alaska, Danny started out as a news intern for public radio in Juneau, covering issues related to education, homelessness and the state legislature.
Since moving to Portland in 2017, he has covered stories related to housing, education, crime and courts, the arts and equity issues as a community news reporter at the Portland Observer.
In 2019 Danny received a master’s in Multimedia Journalism from the University of Oregon. He was a co-producer and director of the award-winning documentary short “Escape from Eagle Creek” about the 2017 Columbia River Gorge wildfire as part of that program.
Danny enjoys spending his free time hiking, playing disc golf with friends, theater, and watching movies and playing games with his family.
