PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man driving a pickup truck with a reportedly stolen trailer eluded police, drove onto a nearby bike path and collided with multiple cars on Monday morning before he and the passenger were arrested, according to Portland Police. 

Scott M. Smith, 25, was located by a K-9 unit near where he abandoned his truck after it sustained a flat tire. He’s currently lodged in Multnomah County Jail on multiple charges including eluding arrest and reckless driving.

The passenger, a 26-year-old woman named Codie Corbit, was arrested on multiple drug-possession related warrants, including meth and heroin.

Portland Police said an officer saw the reported stolen trailer near I-205 and Northeast Killingsworth Street. The officer then attempted to stop Smith but he, according to police, then took off onto a nearby bike path. The officer did not pursue. 

Eventually after, 2 reports of the driver crashing into other vehicles, officers reportedly located the truck abandoned with a flat tire at 108th Avenue and Northeast Tillamook Street. A K-9 unit located Smith nearby. Corbit was also located nearby. She was lodged into jail after she was assessed at a local hoispital. 

Here are the following charges both Smith and Corbit were lodged in jail for:

Smith: 

– Felony parole violation (1 count)

– Reckless driving (1 count) 

– Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle (2 counts)

– Failure to perform the duties of a driver when property was damaged (4 counts) 

Corbit: 

– Felony possession of heroin (1 count) 

– Misdemeanor possession of meth (1 count) 

– Attempted misdemeanor possession of meth (1 count)
