The death of Evangelina Wing

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) — When emergency responders arrived at Dorothy Wing’s home in Seaside Dec. 20, they found her 2-year-old daughter in full rigor mortis with bruises and injuries all over her body.

Documents obtained by KOIN 6 News in the death of Evangelina Wing paint a disturbing picture of the end of her short life.

Her mother and her boyfriend, Randy Roden, were later arrested and face multiple charges.

The 24-year-old Wing pleaded not guilty to 8 charges: one count of murder by abuse, first-degree manslaughter, and six counts of criminal mistreatment.

Roden, 26, was charged with aggravated murder and was ordered held without bail.Other notes from the court documents:

The girl was found laying on her side on a bed in her mother and Roden’s room but with livor mortis on her back, inconsistent with how she was found.

It appeared Evangelina hadn’t recently been bathed, there was discoloring around her neck, a lesion on top of her head, blood in her ear lobe, bruises on her ear. Documents also state the child’s face was swollen through the nose, lips and eyes, and it appeared she was “possibly missing chunks of tissue with underlying abrasion that extend to the are of the nostrils.”

There were fingernail scratches near her mouth.

Her left arm was bruised from her shoulder to her wrist and was wrapped in an ace bandage, and a doctor noticed the humerus in her left arm was deformed.

There were bruises on both hands, adult-sized bite marks on every finger, and she was missing a fingernail on the ring finger of her right hand.

There were bruises on both legs in multiple places.

Dorothy Wing’s other children — a 2-year-old who is 11 months older than Evangelina, and a 5-year-old — both had injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. They are now in protective custody.
