Reporter Amy Frazier didn’t come to TV news the usual route.

Amy grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire. She was working for the Mental Health Association in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, when something unexpected happened.

“People are usually surprised to hear my degree is in psychology.”

“I was on vacation and President Clinton happened to be in the same area. The press was everywhere. One of the network crews was nice enough to let me tag along. The experience inspired me to look into TV news where I could work with people and share their stories in a unique way.”

Switching gears was challenging, but Amy landed a graveyard shift at WISN-TV in Milwaukee. From there it was off to Yakima, Washington, for her first reporting job.

Next stop: Portland, where Amy reported for Northwest Cable News for several years.

“I miss my family back home, but I just fell in love with this city.”

Amy joined the KOIN 6 team in May 2003.

“I think some of the best stories come from talking to people in our community and listening to their concerns, challenges and aspirations. It’s a privilege to have a job where I get to do that.”

When she’s not working Amy enjoys bike riding, skiing, reading and visiting the Oregon Coast.
