KOIN 6 Traffic reporter Carly Kennelly is Oregon’s Best Traffic Reporter, according to the Associated Press. She received an AP Award for the series of traffic reports she did during the December snowstorm in 2008.
Carly loves to call herself an Oregonian. After moving around the country several times, she has decided to make beautiful Portland her home. She has now lived and reported on traffic in Portland for more than a decade. Carly was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She left the big city to earn a Radio/Television/Film degree from the University of North Texas in Denton.
After working behind the camera at WFAA in Dallas, Carly made her first on-air appearance in Bryan/College Station, Texas. She worked as a general assignments reporter at the CBS affiliate, KBTX. While there she did stories on flooding, Texas A&M University, and former President George H. Bush since that’s the location of his presidential library. From the Lonestar State, Carly moved to Kennewick, Washington before ending up in Portland. She reported, produced and anchored the weekend news at KVEW. Working in the Tri-Cities meant Carly often found herself reporting on the Hanford Nuclear Site in Richland and the Umatilla Chemical Weapons Depot in Umatilla, Oregon.
Outside of work, Carly has several other passions that keep her busy. She is a certified personal trainer and loves fitness. Carly also loves to spend time with her family and dogs. She is a member of the Columbia Agility Team and competes with her dogs in agility, rally, and obedience.
