From the Great Plains to the Land of Enchantment to the Pacific Northwest, Cole Miller joined the KOIN 6 News team as a reporter in June 2015.

Born and raised in Nebraska, Cole got his foot in the broadcasting door before graduating a Cornhusker. He spent two years working in his hometown of Lincoln at the local ABC affiliate. There, he covered tornadoes and their aftermath, the state legislature, flew alongside the Blue Angels and won awards for spot news and agricultural reporting.

He then spent two years working at the CBS affiliate in Albuquerque, New Mexico, acquiring a taste for the desert life, especially green chile. Cole worked on many big stories, including a middle school shooting in Roswell and a police protest that lasted more than 15 hours. He also covered wildfires, politics in Santa Fe, a handful of lengthy court cases and even had the chance to meet and interview Jane Goodall.

Cole is ecstatic to be in Portland, telling the stories of Oregonians and Washingtonians. For him, it’s all about getting out of the office and onto the streets and sidewalks where things are happening. “You can’t tell a story without getting to the core – the person, or people – affected.”

When he isn’t on the clock, you can find Cole cheering “Go Big Red” on Saturdays, rooting for the Huskers on the gridiron – adjusting to Pac-12 life may be a challenge (also, he apologizes for stealing Mike Riley from Oregon State). He also loves photography and exploring. On his days off, he will likely be outside snapping pictures.
