Joelle Jones joined the KOIN 6 digital news team as an enterprise reporter in June 2021. Prior to joining the digital team, Joelle began her career in TV News with KOIN 6 as a desk assignment editor in Fall of 2020.
Following seven years living in New York City, Joelle is overjoyed to be back in her home state of Oregon. Before diving into news, Joelle channeled her passion and dexterity for storytelling as a professional actor, appearing in several independent films, performing for Walt Disney World and in national theatre tours across the US. She is excited to translate the storytelling skills and stage presence gained through those experiences in this new role.
As a woman of color, Joelle is passionate about sharing stories that amplify BIPOC voices, celebrate diversity and shed light on racial inequality. While living in NYC, Joelle partnered with the Doe Fund and “Education over Incarceration” to highlight the experiences and challenges facing underserved communities.
Joelle graduated as a double major from New York University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism as well as a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Drama(acting). While in college, Joelle wrote and anchored for “The Story We See” and NYU Tonight in partnership with PBS Newshour.
Outside of work, Joelle continues to find ways to perform and create. She is currently teaching herself how to play harmonica and is relearning French. She enjoys taking dance lessons with her partner, making music with her identical twin, throwing themed parties with her family, and decorating her new shipping container home.
