Thousands ‘Race for the Cure’ in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Thousands decked out in pink and attended the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Sunday morning at Portland’s Tom McCall Waterfront Park.

There was a 5K walk/run, a Zumba class and a survivor/fighter tribute at the starting line. There was also a key point.

“Beautiful faces, beautiful families, and a beautiful message: find a cure now,” said one survivor.

The Race for the Cure is a fundraiser for Komen Oregon and SW Washington, which aims to reduce the number of breast cancer deaths in the United States by 50%.

KOIN 6 News anchor Jennifer Hoff was the emcee for the event.
