PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two people were killed Thursday in Happy Valley after the boom-lift they were in tipped over, authorities said.

Clackamas firefighters said the accident happened at 4:30 p.m. at Pendarvis Farm.

Crews were breaking down sets and equipment that had been erected for the Pickathon music festival last week. Two arborists were 40 feet in the air, trying to take down shade canopies when the boom lift tilted and fell.

Both arborists had been roped to the boom. Deputies said that despite CPR attempts, the 2 workers died.

Pickathon organizers expressed their shock over the workers’ deaths in a statement, calling on the public to “join us in offering up prayers and support to their families and friends during this difficult time.”
