PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A driver accused of driving under the influence crashed into a large power pole, knocking out power to thousands in the Vancouver area early Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Vancouver police tweeted that there is significant damage from the power pole being “sheared off” near Northeast Burton Road and Northeast 90th Avenue. A photo of the crash shows the power pole resting on powerlines hanging near a wrecked vehicle.

No injuries were reported.

Police did not say what, if any charges the driver faces.

The damaged power pole supplies a major electrical substation and subsequently left nearly 33,000 Clark Public Utilities customers in the dark. As of 10 a.m., the company lists less than 400 customers with lost power.

The company expects power to be restored for all customers by 4 p.m.
