Knope, LeBron, Stern and more: Marion Co. write-ins got weird

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — On Tuesday, LeBron James was in Boston, battling the Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals. In Portland, Kate Brown met with the media after winning the Democratic Governor nomination. Leslie Knope was somewhere in Pawnee, Indiana, and you could probably find Marty McFly traveling through time in a flying DeLorean. 

You know where else you could find all of them? As write-ins for the Mayor of Salem. 

Election night is a chance for local voters to use their voices. Every year, some of those voters use the opportunity to vote for whomever they want, regardless if they’re real or not. Marion County voters took full advantage of that opportunity. 

According to the election results, Mickey Mouse was the top vote-getter across all ballots, totaling 35 votes across a variety of different positions. LeBron James finished in second with 19.
