PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A speeding drunk driver crashed into an Uber driver in Northwest Portland on Sunday, sending 3 people to the hospital with serious injuries, according to police.
Joshua Melu, 24, was arrested for DUII and reckless driving and lodged in Multnomah County Jail. The 3 people in the Uber sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash happened right after midnight on Northwest 9th and Northwest Everett.
Portland Police said Melu, traveling at “a high rate of speed,” crashed into a black Mercedes belonging to a driver who worked for Uber. It’s not known if the 2 other occupants in the vehicle had hired the driver for Uber.
Another parked vehicle was also hit, as well as the Tanner Creek Tavern.
