PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A four-vehicle crash in Hillsboro resulted in the arrest of one man on Friday because the car he was in during the crash was stolen, police said.
The crash occurred around 1:48 p.m. Friday near Northeast Cornell Road and Oleander Lane, but Hillsboro police said the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received a stolen vehicle report for the 1996 Ford Mustang the previous night around 11:30 p.m.
According to the Hillsboro Police Department, two men ran from the Mustang after the crash. Authorities were able to track one down and arrest him; the other man is still on the loose.
On Christmas Day, police identified the man arrested as 37-year-old Gregory Douglas Supp. HPD said Supp was booked into Washington County Jail on charges of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and three counts of hit and run on property.
According to HPD, the sheriff’s office had separate prior charges against Supp, including strangulation, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, harassment related to a domestic disturbance and a parole violation.
Hillsboro police told KOIN 6 News Saturday they suspect Supp was the driver of the car.
It is not yet known if anyone was injured in the crash.
