PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 48-year-old Banks man is in the Washington County Jail after an early Tuesday incident the put the Intel campus on high alert.
Around 6:40 a.m. a woman parked at the Intel Ronler Acres campus when a man in a black Acura TL parked next to her, Hillsboro police said. As she got out of her car the man — who doesn’t work at Intel and doesn’t know the woman — approached her, talked briefly and then pointed a black pistol at her.
“He walked up and approached her and he started to say some things that were odd and startled her,” Sgt. Eric Bunday said. “At which point he pulled out what appeared to be a small black pistol. Displayed it to her and pointed it at her and then she turned and ran inside to let security know and he got in his car and drove away.”
No shots were fired.
Employees were first notified at 6:45 a.m. about the reports and were asked to “take action to ensure your safety.” Just before 9 a.m., Intel told employees the situation was cleared.
Intel security and the Hillsboro police worked together and identified the car, then identified Jason Rossman as the suspect.
Around 12:20 p.m. Rossman was spotted by police and stopped at NE 6th and East Main Street. He was arrested and a pistol was found in his car, police said.
Rossman now faces charges for unlawful use of a weapon, menacing and possession of cocaine.
