One hurt in officer-involved shooting at Hillsboro hotel

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Hillsboro police officer opened fire inside of a hotel room during a Saturday night investigation, authorities said.

Officers were called to the Extended Stay America on Northeast Eider Court at 8:30 p.m. to look into suspicious activity.

An officer fired their gun when they entered the room and came across the people they were sent to investigate. No one was injured in the shooting, but a suspect was injured during an altercation that followed the shooting.

One person was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, officers said.

Authorities told KOIN 6 News at least 4 rooms were impacted and some guests were evacuated during the altercation.

There is no threat to the public and an investigation is ongoing, according to Hillsboro police.
