Pedestrian seriously hurt in SE Portland hit-run

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man was seriously injured in a hit-and-run Tuesday night in Southeast Portland’s Centennial neighborhood, police said.

The Major Crash Team was called to the 16000 block of SE Stark Street just before 7 p.m. Investigators learned 27-year-old Daniel Lopez-Herrera was hit inside a crosswalk after activating the flashing beacons to alert traffic, according to Portland police.

Lopez-Herrera was rushed to a hospital and immediately taken into surgery. He was still in critical condition a day later.

Witnesses described the vehicle that hit Lopez-Herrera as having no rear license plates. It was speeding westbound on SE Stark with its headlights off, police said.

Investigators are looking for a 2002-2006 Infiniti Q45, most likely silver or tan, with possible damage to its front left headlight or hood and windshield. Call 911 if you see it.
