PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — One person is dead after being hit by a vehicle in Troutdale early Thursday evening, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said.
The crash at SW 257th and 28th happened around 5:30 p.m. Upon investigation, authorities determined 59-year-old James Colasanti, while dressed in dark clothing, had crossed SW 257th without using a marked crosswalk. Moments after avoiding one northbound vehicle while crossing, he was struck by a Dodge Durango heading south.
Sadly, Colasanti died at the scene.
The driver of the Dodge stayed and spoke with authorities following the collision. After interviewing him, investigators say the driver showed no signs of impairment and they do not believe speed was a factor in the crash.
The driver has not been cited. However, the investigation is ongoing.
