Man stabbed in leg in downtown Portland, suspect released

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A suspect was detained and later released after stabbing another man in self-defense Saturday afternoon in downtown Portland, police said.

Officers responded to a report of a fight in NW 3rd Avenue and NW Glisan Street at about 1 p.m. When they arrived, they found a man bleeding from a serious wound to his leg and applied a tourniquet. The man was taken to a hospital and was expected to recover.

Officers quickly found the suspect about two blocks away. The man was detained and interviewed by detectives. He appeared to have been acting in self-defense and was released, police said. No charges have been filed but the investigation is open. A knife was taken as evidence.
