4 people shot in Gresham, suspect at large

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Four people were shot in Gresham early Thursday in what was described as an “extremely complex incident.”

Gresham police responded to the 700 block of East Powell Boulevard where they discovered four people who were shot sometime around 3 a.m. The victims were taken to the hospital — at least one person has critical injuries and two others are currently in surgery. Officials said the victims were both men and women.

“Part of it happened in a hotel room, part of it happened outside of the hotel room, in the parking lot, one person walked down the street, it created a very complex scene,” Officer Adam Baker with Gresham Police Department said.

They hope members of the public can come forward if they have any information about the shooting.

“We interviewed everyone in the hotel, knocked on every door,” Baker said.

Officers are continuing to investigate.

Baker said the suspect is not in custody and they do not have a description at this time.

Mitchell, a man staying at the motel, told KOIN 6 he heard a commotion around 2:45 a.m.

“My lady friend heard 5 maybe 6 gunshots coming from the front,” he said.
