PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Officials announced 117 animals were seized from Woofin Palooza, a pet rescue service in Northeast Portland, on Tuesday amid an ongoing investigation into alleged animal abuse.
The Multnomah County Animal Services, in coordination with Portland Police Bureau and the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office, executed a search warrant in the 2300 block of Northeast 82nd Avenue after receiving “numerous complaints alleging possible animal abuse or neglect,” according to county officials.
Animal control officers seized 65 cats and 52 dogs from the rescue and boarding facility. Initially, officials said more than 130 animals had been seized, but later clarified 117 animals were in their custody.
The Oregon Humane Society was also on site to perform veterinary services.
The animals were taken in by MCAS. No other details about the conditions of the animals have been released.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
