Amber Alert canceled: Portland girl, 7, found safe

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — An Amber Alert for a 7-year-old girl who was asleep in a Honda when it was stolen in Southeast Portland was canceled after the girl was found “safe and sound in the area of Laurelhurst Park,” police said late Sunday night.

The girl was found inside the stolen 2011 black Honda Civic and was taken to PPB’s East Precinct for a reunion with her family.

About 50 officers took part in the search for the girl. Authorities said they “received many tips” from the community, which helped in the search.

Detectives will continue to investigate the incident that began around 6:50 p.m. at SE 49th and Powell Boulevard. The girl, wearing a yellow shirt that reads, “Be kind to each other,” was inside the Civic when it was stolen.

The investigation continues. Tips for case number 22-252068 can be sent to Detective Heidi Helwig at missing@police.portlandoregon.gov
