Gresham home hit by Molotov cocktail; 1 arrested

GRESHAM, Ore. (KOIN) — A 41-year-old Gresham man was arrested early Wednesday after police said he threw a Molotov cocktail at his neighbor’s garage door.

According to Gresham police. witnesses reported seeing Seth Ames throw the gasoline bomb in the 18600 block of SE Brooklyn Ct. shortly after midnight — starting a fire.

Ames also allegedly set his own house on fire from the basement around the same time.

Police said the 41-year-old suspect fled the scene and crashed his car into a trailer after nearly hitting a police car responding to the initial 911 call.

Both fires were extinguished and no one was injured.

Ames was lodged at Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of arson, unlawful manufacture of a destructive device, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.

Authorities are still investigating the motives behind the arson.
