PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 39-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for the murder of a woman who was found dead in her Beaverton home back in November 2018.

Portland police officers helped Beaverton police detectives find Norberto Nestor Muniz near Southwest 4th and Ankeny. He was arrested for an outstanding parole violation warrant and wanted for the murder of Amy Low.

Prior to his arrest, a Washington County grand jury indicted Muniz for murder and abuse of a corpse.

“It wasn’t until this grand jury indictment that we started hearing rumors he was in downtown Portland,” Officer Jeremy Shaw with Beaverton police said.

Low’s body was found at 12120 SW Allen Blvd. on Nov. 17 after Beaverton officers were called to the home regarding a suspicious circumstance. After her death, police said her body was burned, which delayed them from positively identifying her until Jan. 23, 2019.

According to police, Muniz, Low and a witness were all living together at the Beaverton home during the time of her murder. Multiple items, which contained DNA evidence, were collected from the house.

Muniz was lodged at the Washington County Jail. He’s being held without bail.

Shortly after her death, KOIN 6 News talked to Low’s family. They described her as a free spirit who was close to her family and loved animals.

“When she walked into a room a lot of people gravitated towards her. She was a bright light in a lot of people’s lives,” said Amy’s sister-in-law Emelie Low. “Some people you love ’em or hate ’em but with Amy you loved her or just hadn’t met her yet.”
