PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The mother of a teen killed last year at a house party in Rock Creek said she’s relieved the suspected shooter is now behind bars but her family is reliving many painful memories.
Fermin Alonso-Alonso was shot to death at what authorities described as a “viral” Airbnb party on Sept. 30.
On Tuesday, investigators with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office identified Torrey Caprice Brumfield as the suspected killer. Brumfield, who is currently in an Oregon jail on unrelated charges, is now facing charges of murder, unlawful use of a weapon and felon in possession of a firearm.
Alonso-Alonso’s mother, Eulalia, said her family is relieved to know Brumfield is locked up but she wants to know why her son was the one to die.
“I would like to ask him ‘why my son?'” Eulalia told KOIN 6 News the day after Brumfield was identified as the alleged killer.
“I want to know why he chose my son because it wasn’t an accident because other people would have been shot and it only hit my son,” the grieving mother said. “I feel so much pain because of this.”
Eulalia focuses on keeping Alonso-Alonso’s memory alive.
“He will not be forgotten in our minds and also in his friends,” she said. “He will always be remembered.”
