1 injured, 2 arrested in Salem shooting

SALEM, Ore. (KOIN) — Salem police say they detained several people after a shooting incident reportedly occurred near the west side of Columbia Bank at 550 Center St.

Around 2:45 p.m., police received a report of someone being injured via a gunshot wound. That victim was found and then rushed to a local hospital with a life-threatening injury.

The victim, a 20-year-old man, is still hospitalized. His current condition is unknown.

Police arrested two juvenile males, ages 16 and 14, on various charges. The 16-year-old is being charged with attempted murder and unlawful use of a weapon. The 14-year-old, who reportedly brandished a knife during the incident, was charged with menacing and unlawful use of a weapon

The streets surrounding the mall were cordoned off for two hours while police secured the scene. Streets were reopened just before 5:30 p.m.
