Driver flees after fatally striking man changing tire on I-205

CLARK COUNTY, Wash. (KOIN) — An Idaho man was killed while changing a flat tire on I-205 early Thursday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Jerry Bolland was reportedly changing a tire on his white 1998 Pontiac Bonneville around 12:30 a.m. on the shoulder of the highway near the 134th Street exit in Salmon Creek. An oncoming vehicle then struck the 42-year-old who was taken to a hospital but died as a result of his injuries.

Authorities say the driver did not stop. No vehicle information is available at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.

Washington State Patrol seeks witnesses to the crash and also asks anyone with dash cam footage in the area between 12:00 a.m. and 12:45 a.m. to see if the video shows the vehicle leaving the scene.
