PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Despite rumors, Portland Police don’t believe racism was a motive in a shooting that left a man dead in Southwest Portland on Thursday night.
Officers responded at about 8:15 p.m. to the 8300 block of SW Barbur after receiving reports that someone had been shot, the Portland Police Bureau said.
Police confirmed hours later that a man was killed. A resident told KOIN 6 News they heard five or six gunshots.
On Friday, police announced that 25-year-old Jordan Clark was arrested on one count of second-degree murder. Later in the day, police said in a statement “PPB is aware of mis-information that is circulating about this case. Detectives interviewed multiple witnesses to this crime and there is no information at this time to support race was a factor that played a role in this case.”
The investigation is ongoing.
