Woodburn man linked to 2 sex cases months apart

Alvaro Mendoza-Sanchez, November 4, 2019 (Woodburn PD)

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Woodburn man is linked to 2 separate sex abuse charges months apart and is now being held in the Marion County Jail.

Alvaro Mendoza-Sanchez was arrested after he allegedly groped someone in mid-October. In that instance, the 28-year-old allegedly parked his vehicle, began following the victim and may have used his cellphone to record the assault, police said.

The victim managed to get away but didn’t file a police report until November 1, about 3 weeks after the incident. Woodburn police said their investigation led them to Sanchez.

The investigation also connected Sanchez to an earlier incident that was reported on August 31. A different victim said a man in an older blue pickup tried to pull them into the truck in the area of 900 Parr Road. Authorities said Sanchez was positively identified in that case.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Woodburn police at 503.982.2345.

Mendoza-Sanchez is now facing attempted kidnapping, 2 counts of sex abuse, 2 counts of harassment and trespassing.
