Delta, flight attendant sued over cart injury

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) – A woman is claiming a Delta Airlines flight attendant was negligent on-board a 2013 flight from Atlanta to Portland after she suffered a brain injury when she was hit by a beverage cart, court documents state.

Debera Hong and her attorney, Danny Hitt, filed the lawsuit Thursday in Multnomah County Circuit Court. They are asking a jury to determine a verdict that doesn’t exceed $550,000, court documents state.

According to the lawsuit, Hong sustained “a traumatic brain injury, a concussion, head trauma and pain.” Her symptoms are still continuing, the lawsuit states.

The reported injuries occurred after Hong was assigned aisle seat 40D, court documents sate. The flight attendant is named in the lawsuit as “John Doe.” The lawsuit claims that the flight attendant was “pushing or pulling” a cart down the passenger isle when Hong was hit in the head.

Hong also filed a lawsuit against a man following a June 2013 two-vehicle crash, court documents state. The lawsuit claims that the crash caused injuries to Hong’s body as she recovered from the alleged injuries from the April 2013 flight.

A spokesperson with Delta said she was looking into the matter, but could not immediately provide a statement.
