JUNCTION CITY, Ore. (KOIN) — A Eugene man faces manslaughter charges related to a crash that killed his passenger early Wednesday morning.
Lee W. Volgardsen was driving a 2016 Dodge Charger when it went off Washburn Lane in Lane County and hit a power pole around 1 a.m. Wednesday, the Oregon State Police said. Volgardsen ran from the crash.
When Lane County deputies arrived they found William T. Barnett dead. Investigators said the 29-year-old was the passenger.
Volgardsen, 41, was found at his home and arrested. He’s being held in the Lane County Jail charged with 2nd-degree manslaughter.
The investigation continues, but alcohol is “considered a contributing factor,” authorities said.
