Elderly woman dies after being hit by truck near home

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 91-year-old Hood River woman was killed after being struck by a 1998 Ford Ranger pickup truck on Tuesday.

The Hood River County Sheriff’s Office said Yoshiko Duffield was struck around 2:15 p.m. in front of her home on Barrett Drive. She was airlifted to a Portland hospital where she later died from her injuries.

Authorities said the driver was a 47-year-old man from Hood River, but the cause of the crash is still being investigated.

Oregon State Police assisted in the investigation.
