VANCOUVER, Wash. (KOIN) — A teacher at Evergreen High School was arrested Monday after he allegedly captured inappropriate images of a student on his cell phone, officials said.
Matthew Morasch, 40, was arrested for 2 counts of voyeurism, Vancouver Police Dept. said.
On June 15, authorities were notified by a school staff member that Morasch had allegedly taken inappropriate pictures of a student on his phone. A photo distributed by a student’s mother showed the teacher holding his cell phone underneath a table, pointed at female students across from him.
Days later, detectives obtained a search warrant to examine Morasch’s phone, officials said.
The first count of voyeurism is related to the image captured of a student on June 15. The second count stems from an image from April of an unknown woman at a retail store.
Morasch was booked in Clark County Jail and made his first court appearance Tuesday. He is being held on a $5,000 bond and his arraignment is set for July 7. The court ruled he does not qualify for a court-appointed attorney, and the only contact he is allowed in the next 7 days is his immediate family.
