Foot found on California beach was Hannah Hart’s

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Officials said a human foot found on a California beach belonged to Hannah Hart — the 16-year-old Oregon girl who died after her family’s SUV plunged off a cliff last March.

The partial foot was found April 2, 2018 by a person walking on a beach  in Mendocino County, authorities said.

The foot was inside of a shoe attached to a pair of jeans — both of which were the right size for a child.

Experts at the California Department of Justice Bureau of Forensic Services Laboratory weren’t able to gather conclusive DNA results from the remains, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said a woman who claimed to be the biological mother of Hannah Hart provided a DNA sample in October and officials used it to conclude the foot did belong to Hannah.

Analysts told deputies about the match on Tuesday.

Hannah was one of two Hart family members still missing before now. Devonte Hart, who was 15 at the time of the crash, is still missing. Deputies believe he died with the rest of his family.
