Gang outreach worker says wounded son is in ICU

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN 6) – Family members of a man wounded during a possible gang shooting say he’s on a long road to recovery.

Laurie Palmer says her son Jazman Moore was shot Jan. 11. Portland Police say officers responded to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center after Moore was dropped off at the hospital’s emergency room.

The person who brought Moore, 35, to the hospital told police he was flagged down by Moore in the area of North Columbia Boulevard and Borthwick. Officers went to the area and found evidence of a shooting.

Palmer, who describes herself as a motivational speaker and gang outreach worker, says her son remains in the hospital’s intensive care unit. Palmer says that doctors have told her that Moore will likely have to remain in the hospital for two or three months.

She said his recovery, once released, will last more than a year.

The family has established a fundraiser to help with medical expenses.

Police have not announced any arrests in the shooting.
