PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Gov. Kate Brown will deliver the commencement speech at the University of Colorado at Boulder in May.

Brown said on Thursday that she was “excited and honored” to give the speech at her alma mater.

CU Boulder’s Senior Class Council invited Brown to deliver the commencement speech.

In an announcement released Wednesday, CU Boulder Chancellor Philip D. DiStefano said, “Governor Kate Brown is a distinguished alumna, and we are honored that she will be addressing graduating seniors and their families. Governor Brown has been a strong supporter of working families and education. She embodies a spirit of public service, and we hope she will inspire our students to lead, innovate and make a difference in the world as she has done.”

The commencement ceremony will began at 8:30 a.m. on May 10 at Folsom Field.
