Inslee to allow ‘low-risk’ construction to resume

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Washington Governor Jay Inslee announced on Friday that he will allow “low-risk” construction to resume.

He said it was too soon to say when other businesses will be allowed to reopen. On Thursday, he urged Washingtonians to continue social distancing.

He said construction sites will need to follow physical distancing guidelines developed by a workforce task group.

“Worksites could be shutdown if there’s not compliance with these orders,” Inslee said.

The task force was unsure how exactly how many workers would be able to return to work under the new plan.

He made the announcement during a press conference alongside Greg Lane, executive vice president, Building Industry Association of Washington and Mark Riker, executive secretary of the Washington State Building and Construction Trades Council.
