Homeless Amity man accused of attempted murder

MCMINNVILLE, Ore. (KOIN) — A transient man from the Amity area is accused of attempted murder.

According to court documents filed on Wednesday, Derrick Wayne Minchue is charged with one count of attempted murder, first-degree assault and five counts each of menacing and unlawful use of a weapon.

The incidents occurred between August 12-14 at a local co-op and the First Baptist Church, according to records.

There is only one listed victim, according to court document, but specific details of the incident have not been released.

Minchue is being held without bail in the Yamhill County Jail.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday for a release hearing.

According to court documents, Minchue used some sort of knife as a deadly weapon.
