PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — After two years of cancer treatments, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel for 4-year-old Sasha in her battle against leukemia.
She’ll be celebrating with thousands of others at the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night event this month.
“Sasha is doing great,” Sasha’s mom, Randi Harris said. “She is in the last 3.5 months of treatment, so she will finish treatment in December. So there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. We’re very excited.”
Harris wants to make sure Sasha experiences things every 4-year-old should.

“As you can see, she’s a verys social child,” Harris said. “So she was able to start school again when she entered what’s called the maintenence phase of her treatment. She had to miss quite a bit.”
Harris said Sasha’s immune system is still comprimised but “we try to get her there as often as we can because she loves it so much.”
The Light the Night march across the Tillikum Crossing Bridge on Saturday, October 12, honors those battling, those who have survived and those who have lost their lives to lymphoma and leukemia.
“Light the Night is an amazing event for the community to come together and show support for patients like Sasha and all the people who have been affected by blood cancers,” Harris said.
