Blind cyclist completes 10th Seattle to Portland ride

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — For the 10th time, Clark Roberts rode the 206 miles between Seattle and Portland. He was one of 8000 bicyclists taking part in the 40th annual ride.

But he’s the only one who is blind.

Roberts, now 65, said the fact he can’t see hasn’t stopped him before. He uses a tandem bike and has a seeing-eye dog when he’s off the cycle.

He admits it’s a challenge, but he’s been inspiring people since he lost his sight more than 40 years ago.

“It’s great to be able to go out there, be with other individuals, inspire them to keep going, keep motivating,” he said.

Roberts is also using the bike ride as a fundraiser for his nonprofit, Ultimate Vision.
