OREGON CITY, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A woman who was in her car when she was chased and shot by her husband, managed to call police in Oregon City and got away Monday afternoon, police said.
The husband fired shots from his vehicle, hitting his wife several times before shooting himself, Oregon City Police said.
The 54-year-old wounded woman, Jan Marie Moffatt, was found by a resident in the neighborhood and rushed to OHSU for treatment of her injuries. She is currently in critical but stable condition.
Her 55-year-old husband, Timothy Oliver Moffatt, was found by Oregon City police near the spot where the call for help was initiated. He was suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was also rushed to a hospital for treatment. He was critically injured and later died on Jan. 27.
Investigators said there was a vehicle chase between the Moffatts across several Oregon City streets during this domestic disturbance. It ended near the intersection of Glenview Ct. and Squire Dr.
She had a protective order against her husband, but it was not enough to keep him away from her during Monday’s incident.
The Clackamas County SWAT unit was at the scene. Gaffney Elementary and North Clackamas Christian School were on lockdown for a short period.
Both the Oregon City PD and Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office are investigating what appears to be a domestic violence incident.
