Miami trio arrested in Beaverton for ID theft

BEAVERTON, Ore. (KOIN) — Three people from Miami were arrested in Beaverton after a search of their hotel room found 240 counterfeit re-encoded prepaid credit cards and other devices.

Marie Armstrong, Liorge Hernandez-Cueto and Leorge Despaigne-Moreno were taken into custody Thursday night at a Beaverton hotel, Beaverton police said in a release.

The investigation began Wednesday when detectives were alerted a credit card crew may be in the area. The suspects were allegedly spotted using multiple credit cards to buy gift cards at Walmart stores in the area.

A search warrant was obtained and investigators said they found a credit card encoder, gas pump keys and 22 gas pump skimming devices along with the counterfeit credit cards.

Armstrong, 39, Hernandez-Cueto, 34, and Despaigne-Moreno, 26 drove from Miami to Beaverton on January 2. Investigators said they arrived in Beaverton on January 6. They are being held in the Washington County Jail on $250,000 bail.

Despaigne-Moreno was previously arrested in October 2014 in Kansas and Colorado for similar crimes.

A fourth person was detained and then released.
