Multnomah County deputy involved in NE Portland shooting; 1 shot

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Multnomah County deputy was involved in a shooting in Northeast Portland that involved at least three scenes in the Lloyd District neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon, with one person shot and being treated at a local hospital.

Although the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that a deputy was involved in a shooting, no further information about those involved has been released.

MCSO says a large area with multiple crime scenes near NE Grand Avenue and NE Holladay Street has been closed off.

KOIN 6 News’ Brandon Thompson saw three cars crashed at the scene, K-9 units surveying the area and one person was taken away by an ambulance. Steve Dangler from the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that there is one person in the hospital with a gunshot wound.

Dangler also said that he hopes to share more information by Thursday morning. No other details were immediately confirmed.

One witness told KOIN 6 News that he attempted to assist the victim after she was shot.

“I used my shirt for the gunshot wound and just put pressure on it,” said witness Steven Perkins. “She grabbed my hand and wanted me to stay with her.”

People are urged to avoid the area while authorities continue their investigation.
