Meanwhile, the medical examiner is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of Hethorn’s death.

Hethorn, who spent more than 30 years as an educator and mentor with the Dallas School District, was described by her daughter, Kali Roque, as a loving grandmother. “She was an absolutely amazing person,” Roque said. “She was so dedicated not only to her students and her profession but to our family, as a grandma she was the most textbook definition of a grandma. That was her.”

Superintendent Steve Spencer of the Dallas School District also had high praise for Hethorn.

“Terri’s leadership influence and positive impact permeated all levels of our school district,” Spencer said, “Terri will be sorely missed. On behalf of the district, I offer our deepest condolences, full support and thoughts to her family and those grieving in the Dallas community during this difficult time.”

Anyone with information on Hethorn’s death is urged to call the Monmouth Police Department at 503-838-1109.
