Portland among 6 sites focusing on human trafficking

CLEVELAND (AP) – Federal prosecutors say Cleveland has been chosen as the site of one of six national enforcement teams focusing on human trafficking.

The other sites for the teams are Minneapolis; Newark, New Jersey; Portland, Maine; Portland, Oregon; and Sacramento, California.

The sites were selected by unanimous interagency consensus of the Federal Enforcement Working Group, which is made up of national anti-trafficking experts in federal agencies

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Cleveland said Thursday that Cleveland was selected through a competitive process to participate in the Interagency Federal Law Enforcement Partnership to Combat Human Trafficking. Prosecutors say it’s aimed at streamlining the investigation and prosecution of federal human trafficking offenses.
