PPB: Gang member arrested in NE Portland shooting

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A 23-year-old man was arrested in connection with a gang-related shooting in Northeast Portland early Tuesday morning, officials said.

Around 12:45 a.m., officers were called to the area of NE 82nd Avenue and Wasco Street on reports of multiple gunshots, Portland Police Bureau said.

A witness at Eastern Cathay Restaurant told police a group of 20 African American men came into the bar and ordered drinks. Due to the number of people coming in and out, the witness said restaurant managers closed the bar and asked everyone to leave.

As soon as the group left the bar, the witness told police multiple gunshots were fired, officials said.

Officers driving to the scene saw 4 cars speeding southbound on SE 82nd Avenue at Powell Boulevard. They pursued one of the cars, and a passenger got out and ran into a neighborhood.

The passenger, identified as Adyia Thomas Graham, was later found and taken into custody. A handgun was recovered after officers saw him drop a gun as he got out of the car.

Graham was booked in Multnomah County Jail on charges of felony possession of a firearm and a parole violation. He is a known gang member, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing, anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call Detective Brad Clifton at 503.823.2087.
