PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Two 19-year-olds who had been on the lam after allegedly robbing 3 convenience stores with a PSU football player were taken into custody Tuesday afternoon.
Saadiq Tajari Calhoun and Emma Morgan Ogden are believed to be involved with the robberies of two Plaid Pantry stores and the Duniway Market in early October. They surrendered to police around 2:37 p.m., officials said.
Calhoun and Ogden graduated from Central Catholic in 2015. Calhoun, who was a high school football player, previously had only been cited for traffic violations.
Investigators told KOIN 6 News they began getting tips on the case as the story was shared by news outlets and social media.
Jonathan Boland was arrested in late October. Boland was a PSU football player at the time and was previously featured as a KOIN Athlete of the Week when he was at Parkrose High School.
Court documents noted the 3 robberies — October 5, 6, 7 — had similarities. In the first two, a man and woman customer entered the store moments before a masked gunman entered and demanded money and merchandise.
The robbed customers at the Plaid Pantry robbery on October 6 left the store right after the gunman and said they were going to chase after the suspect, documents said.
The third robbery featured two men, one the gunman and the other a customer. But the customer is seen on surveillance tape making a phone call just before the gunman entered, and did not seem surprised when the robbery happened.
Boland, court documents said, was the customer. “During an interview with Boland, he admitted to being a participant and acting as a set up person and look out.”
