Oregon State Police arrested 37-year-old Christopher Wilson of Salt Lake City in connection to four fires along Highway 97 between the area of Lava River Cave and milepost 180 south of La Pine.
30 cars crash on icy I-5 in Portland — February 3, 2017
No one was seriously injured in the accident that began around 2:30 a.m. A TriMet bus was called to shelter stranded drivers in the cold, but the bus had problems getting to the scene and was eventually called off after drivers made it to shelter at a nearby McDonalds. Both semi-trucks and cars were involved.
Man carrying mom’s severed head stabbed store clerk — May 14, 2017
Witnesses said Joshua Webb was covered in blood and carrying a knife and what appeared to be a human head when he walked into the Harvest Market Thriftway store on Mother’s Day.

A judge has convicted the man who pulled a gun on a crowd of people during a Black Lives Matter rally outside the Multnomah County Justice Center.
Eagle Creek Fire grows to more than 10,000 acres — September 4, 2017
Flames were burning above Multnomah Falls and threatened hundreds of structures, including the Multnomah Falls Lodge, which is safe after crews stationed themselves around the structure overnight. Crews also put forth what Governor Kate Brown called a “heroic effort” to save other critical infrastructure including access to state parks and the fish hatchery.

Taliesin Myrddin Namkai Meche came to the aid of 2 young women who were being verbally attacked on the train. Before that moment, Rachel Macy and Meche had been strangers. “I told him, ‘You’re a beautiful man. I’m so sorry the world is so cruel,’” Macy said.
Missing Camas teen’s car found with body inside — April 27, 2017
The Camas Police Department said the black Honda Accord was found in a shopping center parking lot with the body of a young adult male inside. The Lewis County Coroner confirmed it was the body of 16-year-old Cole Burbank.

One popular question is can you watch the eclipse holding your phone with the totality behind you. According to Jim Todd, the OMSI director of Space Science Education, you can. A 17-year-old high school student is fighting for his life after he and his good friend collided at the driveway of his house in Gresham just after midnight June 27. He has since made a remarkable recovery and is out of the hospital.
