PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Washington gun-control ballot initiative has a new financial backer: Blazers and Seahawks owner Paul Allen.
Allen tweeted the announcement on Monday, saying that he contributed $1 million to Initiative 1639, a measure that would raise the age to purchase automatic weapons to 21 while also “creating an enhanced background check system.”
The initiative, Allen tweeted, is a necessary and reasonable one.
The initiative was created by Washington’s Alliance for Gun Responsibility. It’s hoping to make the November ballot.
