PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The USS Oregon was an important battleship from late 19th century up until the time it was decommissioned after World War I. In the coming months, a new USS Oregon will be commissioned.
Ken Boddie visits Tom McCall Waterfront Park to meet up with Arlo Gatchel of the USS Oregon Commissioning Committee to talk about the battleship that was and a Navy vet who helped make sure the new, nuclear-class submarine bares the same name.
